turn off netgear active armor
To turn off Netgear Armor (which is powered by Bitdefender and provides security features like antivirus, anti-theft, and web protection for your network), you can follow these steps. This applies if you’re using a Netgear router with Netgear Armor enabled through the Nighthawk app or the router’s web interface.
Option 1: Disable Netgear Armor via the Nighthawk App
- Open the Nighthawk App:
- If you don’t have it already, download the Nighthawk app from the Google Play Store (for Android) or the Apple App Store (for iPhone/iPad).
- Log In:
- Open the app and log in with your Netgear account credentials or the admin credentials for your router.
- Access Armor Settings:
- Once logged in, you should see your router’s details on the home screen. Tap on the “Armor” icon or Security tab to access the Armor settings.
- Turn Off Armor:
- Inside the Armor section, you’ll find options to manage security features. Look for a setting like “Turn Off Armor” or “Deactivate Armor”. This will disable the Netgear Armor security services.
- Confirm Deactivation:
- You may be asked to confirm that you want to disable Armor. Follow the prompts to complete the process.
Option 2: Disable Netgear Armor via Router Web Interface
- Log Into Your Router:
- Open a web browser and enter the IP address for your Netgear router. Typically, it’s

Option 3: Unsubscribe from Netgear Armor
If you are using a paid subscription for Netgear Armor and want to cancel your subscription (rather than just turning it off temporarily), you can follow these steps:
- Log In to Your Netgear Account:
- Go to the Netgear website and log in with your credentials.
- Manage Subscriptions:
- Once logged in, navigate to the Subscription or Services section of your account.
- Cancel Armor Subscription:
- Find Netgear Armor in the list of active subscriptions and follow the prompts to cancel or turn off the service.
